Imbolc and the Full Moon in Leo

Remembering, Reclaiming, and Becoming

Imbolc arrives quietly.

It does not demand transformation or dramatic renewal. Instead, it marks a subtle but powerful turning point, the moment when the light begins to return and something within us starts to stir.

This year, Imbolc is accompanied by the Full Moon in Leo, illuminating themes of selfhood, courage, and authenticity. Together, they invite a deeper question, not about who you should become, but about who you are ready to remember and reclaim as you move into the next season of your life.

Imbolc as a threshold, not a rebirth

Imbolc is often spoken of as a festival of new beginnings, but in truth, it is a threshold rather than a rebirth.

It is the point where we begin to sense what wants to grow, long before it is fully visible. The seeds are already present. What matters now is how we tend them.

This makes Imbolc a powerful moment for reflection rather than action, for listening rather than pushing. It asks us to consider what no longer needs to be carried forward, so that what is emerging has space to breathe.

The Full Moon in Leo and the courage to stand in your light

The Full Moon takes place at 13 degrees of Leo, directly opposite the Sun at 13 degrees of Aquarius.

Leo and Aquarius form one of the most revealing polarities in astrology.

Leo speaks of sovereignty, self-trust, and the courage to be seen as you truly are. Aquarius reminds us that we exist within a wider collective, shaped by shared beliefs, social patterns, and inherited expectations.

With the Moon standing alone in Leo, illuminated and visible, there is a strong invitation to stand distinctly in your own truth. Not in isolation, but in integrity.

Opposite her, a concentration of planets in Aquarius reflects the collective voices, ideas, and systems that influence how we express ourselves. This lunation asks us to examine the balance between individuality and belonging.

Where have you been holding back your authentic self in order to fit in? Where have you mistaken connection for conformity? Where might it be time to stand more fully in your own light, without cutting yourself off from others?

This is not about rebellion for its own sake. It is about alignment.

Fixed energy and the comfort of familiar identities

This Full Moon carries strong fixed energy, which brings steadiness, commitment, and loyalty. It also highlights where we may have become too settled in identities that once served us, but now quietly limit our growth.

Fixed energy can show us where we say this is just how I am, this is how it has always been, this is as far as I can go.

Imbolc, paired with this lunation, gently challenges those assumptions. Not by demanding change, but by asking whether they still reflect who you are becoming.

A coaching lens on remembering, reclaiming, and becoming

From a coaching perspective, this moment is not about self-improvement. It is about self-recognition.

Remembering is the act of reconnecting with parts of yourself that have been softened, silenced, or set aside.

Reclaiming is the choice to bring those parts back into your lived experience.

Becoming is what happens naturally when you begin to live in alignment with what you already know to be true.

This work does not require force. It asks for honesty, presence, and the willingness to listen.

Reflection and journaling prompts

You may wish to spend some time journaling with one or two of the following prompts under this Full Moon and Imbolc gateway.

  • What part of myself is asking to be remembered now

  • Where have I been dimming my light in order to belong

  • What identities or roles feel complete, even if they once protected me

  • What am I ready to reclaim as my own, without justification

  • Who am I becoming as the light begins to return

Allow your responses to unfold slowly. There is no need to reach conclusions.

A simple Imbolc and Full Moon ritual

This ritual is designed to be grounding and reflective rather than performative.

You will need a candle, a quiet space, and your journal.

Light the candle and take a few slow breaths, allowing your body to settle.

In your journal, write down one belief, role, or way of being that feels complete. Something you no longer need to carry forward into the next season.

Then write one sentence beginning with:

I am becoming someone who…

Read this sentence aloud. Let it land in your body rather than your mind.

When you are ready, extinguish the candle and thank yourself for the honesty of this moment.
